Two roadway repaving projects are scheduled to begin this month as part of the voter-approved Proposition 101 Tucson Delivers Better Streets Program.
On Thursday, February 10, 2022, Sunland Construction, under contract with the Department of Transportation and Mobility (DTM), is scheduled to begin work on Ft. Lowell Road from Country Club Road to Alvernon Way. Crews will lower manhole covers and water valve covers, as well as conduct curb work throughout the project limits, which includes the installation of ADA compliant ramps. Following this work, on Thursday, February 17, crews are scheduled to begin milling (remove) the old asphalt, prep the subgrade and repave with new asphalt. During this work, Fort Lowell Road will maintain one travel lane in each direction. This project is scheduled to be complete by the beginning of March 2022.
On Friday, February 11, 2022, crews will begin work on Glenn Street from Alvernon Way to Swan Road. Crews will lower manhole covers and water valve covers as well as conduct curb work throughout the project limits, which includes the installation of ADA compliant ramps. On Tuesday, February 22, crews are scheduled to begin milling the old asphalt and repave with new asphalt within these limits. During this work, Glenn Street will close to one travel lane and a pilot vehicle will escort vehicles through the work zone. This project is scheduled to be complete by the beginning of March 2022.
The work will take place Monday through Friday from about 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each day. Residential and business access will be maintained during this work. The schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or unforeseen circumstances. Electronic message boards are in place to alert motorists of this upcoming work.
